chris petersonChris Peterson is one of those kids that comes along not so often in skateboarding. He truly loves skateboarding. He lives, breathes, sweats and bleeds skateboarding. I got the rare chance to skate with Chris while i was at his home park at Rye Airfield. His natural ability to make his skateboard do whatever he wanted it to do made me realize that he has a special talent on his board. We ended up skating the Rye mini ramp for a few hours and had a ton of fun that day. His attitude is awesome, he's focused but not mad, he's just happy to be on his board rolling around.

Chris shines in skateparks with big bowls and ramps but he can throw down on street too. He's been known to do nosegrinds down handrails. But when you get him into a concrete pool or bowl that's where you'll see his true mad-genius mind go to work.

How did you start in your sport? : I started riding a Wal-Mart board on the sidewalk and driveway in our neighbor hood. My dad's friend took us to Ramp Ranch Skatepark in Austin Texas. This was my first time on a real ramp and I have been skating transition ever since. A year later I made the park team and knew then that this is what i want to do for the rest of my life. Half Pipes and bowls are my favorite things to ride. Transitions - the bigger and faster, the better.

What's the hardest part of your sport? : I would say, skating thru a bad day on my board. I hate it when it I can't land a trick. You have to get my head straight for the trick or you will never land it. Then you have to worry that you've tried so long that you get tired and that?s when bad things happen (concussions or broken bones). I've had a few of them and it makes a bad day a bad month.....

Who is your biggest influence : Danny Way

Any advice for new athletes ? : Never give up. Look at what your attempting and ensure that you have the basic skills needed to pull it off. If not work, the basics so you have a good set of building blocks for more complicated tricks. Don't fall for peer pressure that makes you try a trick your not sure of - that?s when you get injured

Last magazine or book you read? : Juice magazine

Last meal you ate? : Captin Crunch rules

Last time you traveled, where did you go? : We did a road trip for Go Skate Day. We did a demo for Bern Helmets and Spy Optics in Rhode Island. I had a great time riding for my sponsors that day. We ended up on Cape Cod wanting to surf the next day. Flat and blown out so off the Skaters Edge to get ready for the Volcum Wild in the Park contest next month. When we woke up the next day there it was still flat so we skated longboards for a while then off to Cape Ann for the night. The last day was spent at Rye Airfield in New Hampshire. It?s always a great day at riding Rye. Learned a few new things on the Vert Ramp and was asked to ride for Z-Flex Skateboards. It turned out to be one cool road trip.

Favorite Drink? : Sobe Energy Slushy

Your favorite piece of equipment? : My helmet is the coolest. It is made by Bern and was designed on things I had done for the past year with my other Bern helmets. I like to ride with a ball cap under my lid so I can use the visor. Well Bern liked the look in all my sponsor pictures and designed a helmet with a soft visor in it. That?s why I love my new helmet ? helps to cut down on the cat scans as well - lol

What's one weird thing about you? : When I eat dinner, I don't like the different foods to touch on the plate. Sure I know it all goes to the same place but I want to decids in what order and what the mix will be.
