A week in Santa Cruz...

Happy 2009 everyone,
Well, I just got back to San Diego after spending a week in Santa Cruz with family for New Years. It was great to spend time with my brother and his wife after not seeing em for a couple of years while they were on the East coast. It is really good to have em back here in California so my brother can get back to his surfing roots. Anyone who has traveled knows that NoCal spots have B-R-U-T-A-L cold water and last week was no different. The first wave I duck-dived at Steamers made me have the worst ice cream headache I have ever experienced! My hands were so cold and clawd that I needed both hands to turn the key to open the car door! Unfortunately the surf was nothing to write home about and definately wasn't worth shooting any pic's or video. The worst part was Surfline's forecast for Steamers was tagged to be "Good to Epic" in the 6-9 foot range two days after I had to leave back to San Diego! Killing me... but it was a good trip and it was great to spend time with family. Now I scanning the SD forecast's hoping some solid swell with hit soon.
