Q & A
Some Personal Information About Me:
My names Roy Winkelman. 16 years of age and Im the newest A Pro. San Diego CA. Im a Senior this year and Im also in Independent Studies. Ive been in love with the sport since I was 8 years old. I live and breath Bmx. It's just what my life has become surrounded by, and I couldnt ask for anything better. I live in San Diego so of course Im at the beach just hanging out or surfing almost everyday. Im a pretty goofy kid who just simply enjoys living life to it's fullest. Join Me? =)
Music?
Looking at my playlist, I pretty much listen to music that most of you have never even heard of. I love listening to the smaller Indie rock bands that arn't well known yet. Their music has that certain feeling and flow that's perfect to ride trails or park to, or anything really. Music contributes a huge part to how I live my life. Im listening to any type of music throughout my day. It gets me focused and pumped before races, and keeps me calm in between motos.
What do you want to be when you grow up?
Right now my biggest hopeful is to get a major in Film Production and/or a Bachelors degree in Film Editing. I love to edit videos and its what Im doing when Im not riding. The video that most are always talking about, "Underestimated" went up almost 60,000 views on YouTube.com in a 6 month period of time. It was a video I just made for fun with no intention of it even being any good, buuut people seemed to go crazy over it ha-ha. I hoping I can turn it into a career someday and still stay in BMX. If I did turn it into a career I would get away from shooting racing and get into the more true BMX field. Park, Street, Dirt, and everything around that. Traveling the world with nothing but a bike and a camera and a bunch of amazing riders. Can't figure out a better way to live my life.
What inspires you to compete?
Just the thrill. All the things I get to see, all the people I get to meet. When you win you just feel like youve accomplished something great, makes you want to train more so you can win more.
Why do you like this sport?
What is there not to like? BMX is like my second family. Its MY LIFE. I just love everything about it and everything in it. Nothing could ever change that. All my life I'm going to be surrounded by this sport. I never want to let go. Just the enviroment, makes you feel good, and welcomed. BMX Racing is what I just love to do. and everyone else that races feels the same way. We're all different, yet alike in strange ways. BMX, is my family, andmy life.
