2008 Race Thoughts...

 April 26 & 27, 2008

This weekend was so much fun, I don't even know where to start!  SO, I guess I'll start at the beginning :-)  All week we were up in the air on when we were actually going to race.  First, it was go up Friday night and race Saturday morning and night and come home Sunday morning.  Then it was go early in the morning and race Saturday morning and night.  Finally, we decided to go up Saturday morning, after sleeping in (yeah!!!) racing Saturday night spend the night and race again Sunday morning.  I liked that idea, sleeping in is always good for me!  So, my friend (and Morgan's girlfriend) Taylor stayed all night Friday, we slept in (until 8 or so) loaded the truck and trailer and decided to go ahead and leave at noon.  We got up to Fulton County Fair Grounds (another wonderful Reads Racing track) just as the morning races were finishing.  That was great, we had 3 hours to set up camp, register and start practice!  OH, and it was mom's birthday, so me, Morgan, Levi Johnson and Scotty Swinford went up to the announcement booth and told everyone it was mom's birthday, we were so excited to see her expression but we were disappointed because she didn't hear it!!  SO, WE DID IT AGAIN...this time, we dragged her up to the concession area where we knew she could hear us!  She thought it was cool, and so did we!  Well, practice started and how cool was it that Mattie Johnson and Kristin Henson were both there!  I got 4th in both moto's that night and 4th over all.  We put up the bikes and hung out around the campfire.  It was fun!  Cold, but fun!!  I slept in again Sunday morning (yeah!) had some breakfast and started getting ready to race.  Mattie & Kristin went home the night before, but it was still fun racing!  I got to hang out with Taylor and Ezra and Scotty, even though he got hurt the night before.  OH and they ran my class, Womens Jr with the pitbikes and outlaws, so I got to race in the same race as Morgan, Ezra on Saturday and Eddie too on Sunday.  I ended up in 2nd both races on Sunday and 2nd overall.  On the way home, we were going to stop at Buffalo Wild Wings for dinner but the one in Kokomo changed to 21 and older only so we went to Applebee's instead, we were wiped out and everyone but me slept all the rest of the way home...then everyone wanted to ride some more when we got home!  It was a great weekend and I can't wait for the next race, that we can go to!

April 6, 2008 Hangtime LLQ

Boy am I glad it's riding season!!  I can't wait to get home, get my homework done (so mom doesn't kill me dead) and hit the track!!  I miss my old friends and can't wait to meet new!!

I've been pretty busy this winter, since I couldn't ride.  I played the butler in the school play (and you know the butler always does it!), I've joined the school volleyball team, I've kicked my mom and dad's butts on the Wii, went to the Dreyer Supercross Party and chatted with the best, BEST guy in the world, Ryan Dungey, had my 11th birthday party and hung out with my best friend Emily Branham.  Now it's time to get back to work on the track, and I couldn't be happier!!

We've had grand plans of racing every weekend, but realistically I think it will be more like twice a month.  My first race was at Hangtime, the day after my birthday!!  It was a great day!  Reads Racing hosted a Loretta Lynn's Qualifier and there were a TON of people there!  There were 30 races and mine was 30th.  That was fine by me, I got to watch all the other races and run around with my friends.  It was fun watching my friends Trent Gossar and Adam Scanlan race each other!  Especially since it was Adam's first real race!  Trent's mom, Theresa took some fantastic pictures!  She's one heck of a photographer!  When it was time for my practice, I realized I didn't have any gloves that fit me, thank Goodness for Jessica and Derrick Bryant!!  They loaned me a pair, mine are too small now and I couldn't move my hands.  I had a great time practicing and patiently awaited my race.  The first moto, I stalled the bike on take off but made an honest pass to finish 2nd place.  My last moto, I stalled the bike again (my bad) and had some serious making up to do.  Dad keeps telling me to shift in the corners and out of them, and guess what!!  I listened!!  The last corner before the finish line jump, I pinned it, shifted and pinned it again, and passed the rider in the lead to take the checkered flag!  That put me in 1st place overall.  Hope to see you at the Fulton County Race on April 26th
